Does the flash on your smartphone age the skin of your face?

Iranian scientists have recommended that people who take selfies often turn off the flash because it ages the skin, reported Mirror and Darik.

The light-emitting diodes used on the flash of most smartphones reduce the skin's ability to regenerate, causing earlier aging. That's why scientists at Shiraz Medical University have called on smartphone makers to use xenon flashes, not light emitting diodes.

The main intensity of LEDs is in the blue of the spectrum. Blue light can cause different levels of damage to the eyes and skin.
